Frequently Asked Questions

Can I reserve the park? Kinda. Although we do not reserve the park, we have had many people get married there over the years. We will coordinate with you if you want to use it, but the park will remain open for all during your event. Please contact the Interlaken President if you have a request.

Where do my dues go? The primary expense of the association are grounds and special projects. In 2019 we completed the tennis court. That was a very big project for us that took years of saving to complete. Upcoming projects will most likely be maintenance in nature .

Where is the Muskegon Lake access? There is a common area/park on the Muskegon Lake side. There is a road leading to the common area right where Mid Oak and East Circle Meet at the triangle. Access is difficult, attempt at your own risk.

When do I have to obtain approval from the board? In the event you wish to “commence, construct or erect a dwelling or other structure, or to make any addition to, change or alteration which shall require a building permit” you must notify the president, secretary or treasurer of The Interlaken Association of your intention and and provide a plan and specification to be considered by the board.

When does the board meet? The Board of Directors meeting schedule varies as the need arises.

Can we cut down trees? Prior to cutting down or trimming any trees, please contact the board to be sure they are not on association property. Additionally, our trees dramatically increase the aesthetic and real value of our association. Please attempt to keep as many trees as you possibly can. If you must cut trees, please re-plant some in their place.

Note: If you are trimming trees, you must avoid wounding oaks from mid-April to mid-July, should an oak be wounded, immediately painting the wound is recommended. Here are some guidelines to follow.

Is there a penalty for non-payment of my dues? Yes. If a dues payment has not been received 30 day after the deadline the homeowner is notified. The board does attempt to contact the homeowner and resolve the issue. However, if payment is not received, ultimately a lien will be place on the home for lack of payment of dues. Filing fees as well as legal fees associated with the lien will be billed to the homeowner as well.
